DescriptionHELLA is one of the top 50 automotive parts suppliers in the world and one of the 100 largest industrial companies in Germany. With a consolidated group turnover of five billion euros and sales and marketing companies all over the world, HELLA has had an ever-increasing focus on logistics over the past five years.
As a result, HELLA initiated a warehouse improvement project worldwide with the goal of improving the logistics within each of the warehouses belonging to the sales and marketing companies. HELLA used SAP WMS in every sales company and introduced modern technology in the form of “Pick by Voice” for picking orders. This immediately increased the efficiency by 25 - 30% or more. The products come in in the morning and are directly stored in the warehouse. During the day the orders come in and they are picked immediately so they can be shipped the same day. Efficiency, insight and speed are mission critical for this process.
After reorganizing the warehouses, HELLA defined the organizational goals, such as; clean every day and same day delivery. Clean every day means that all orders that come in have to be stored immediately and all orders received during that day have to be shipped that same day. By the end of the day, then, the warehouse (and order processing) needs to be clean and handled. In order to achieve this goal, measuring and monitoring a variety of processes becomes the key to HELLA’s success, especially when measuring and monitoring is replicated in multiple warehouses and sales companies around the globe.
In pursuit of their goal, HELLA opted to add the Every Angle Solution to SAP WMS. Every Angle built ad-hoc Angles for business users to check their daily statuses and for management to measure the warehouse performance. In the case that something goes wrong within one of the daily processes, HELLA is able to immediately pinpoint the problem, take action to correct the situation and still achieve the goals outlined at the start of the warehouse improvement project.
When standardizing the SAP system, HELLA opted to use the Every Angle SAP add-on tool worldwide. With one Angle, HELLA is able to have business users in 15 different countries run the exact same reports.
