What is the difference between SAP BI (BW) and Every Angle?

SAP BI (BW) and Every Angle complement each other. SAP BW BI stands for the SAP Business Warehouse Business Intelligence software platform. Part of the SAP NetWeaver system, the BW BI component serves as the technological infrastructure and offers various analytical technologies and functions.

The majority of companies use Every Angle in combination with SAP BI / BW. They use BW / SAP BI for the management reports and use Every Angle for operations management.

Functionality differences between the software solutions:

  • SAP BI (BW) requires a BI specialist to define and design infocubes that contain management overviews of condensed (aggregated) historic information used to perform long term analysis of trends and actual vs plan.
  • With Every Angle the user intuitively creates operational overviews and analyses with a high level of detail based on current data. Every Angle is more suitable for charting the actual progress of processes, bottlenecks, the effect on the value chain, find any data contamination and perform ad-hoc analyses. This is especially important for operations management.

Traditional database versus Live Objects technology

  • SAP BI (BW) is based on traditional database technology. A substantial knowledge of SAP and the business is required when making overviews and analyses. The technology provides options to create cubes to generate the overviews and analyses. Cubes contain a predetermined number of dimensions (characteristic combinations) and can contain data that is no longer available in the transaction system.
  • Every Angle is based on Live Objects in Memory technology, which is very different to cube technology and is designed to handle very large amounts of data in superfast time. It contains all current data available on the SAP transaction system, but the performance is a thousand times faster than with relational databases. It can rapidly run computations across large networks of orders and stock.
  • Once extracted into Every Angle, the built-in SAP knowledge automatically allows the end user to intuitively click through the data to independently create the desired overviews and analyses without requiring any specialist knowledge of SAP.
